Summer. Starts. Now. So it’s time to break out your brightest and boldest nail colors to ring in the joyful month of June.
“June very much represents the start of the summer which can be filled with adventure and good energy, so why not bring that to nails,” says nail artist Sigourney Nuñez. “This is the time to embrace fun and vibrant colors! But if a more laid-back approach is your style, don’t worry because there are some very classic colors that still reign supreme this season.”

- Mazz Hanna is a manicurist and the CEO of talent agency Nailing Hollywood.
- Sigourney Nuñez is a nail artist and Sally Hansen global partner.
- Sharon Ladokun is a nail artist who works with nail-care brand Après.
Manicurist Mazz Hanna co-signs Nuñez. “Vibrant warm tones work best for June because those tones are a reflection of the warm sunny weather that we get in June,” says Hanna. “Don’t let that stop you from opting for cool tones though—saturated blues tend to work beautifully in June as well since they give off calming and refreshing beach day vibes.”

Neons
“People are more willing to get a little experimental with their style in the summer and neon nail polishes are a fun way to dabble into that sense of playfulness,” says Nuñez. “They are super noticeable and make a statement, which can be a great conversation starter during a fun outing or backyard bbq.” Hanna is particularly into neon pink. “It’s the perfect shade to transition into the hot summer months,” she says.

Pearlescent
“In the past, pearlescent polishes have been really underrated,” says Nuñez. “But now, people—and TikTok—are obsessed with the effect that one coat of a sheer layer can give nails. The result is like a really pretty natural glow from within.” Nail artist Sharon Ladokun loves to give any nail look the pearlescent vibe with a glowy top coat. “Ever since Aprés launched the Heavenly Gel Topcoats, I have been using them a whole lot, as they just make my clients’ nails pop,” she says.

Bridgerton Beauty
“While not exactly a color, but more a trend, the popularity of Bridgerton is really inspiring a more fresh-faced approach to beauty and nails,” says Nuñez. “Just like a good moisturizer will set up a beautiful canvas for makeup, the Sally Hansen Repair and Rescue Illuminating Color Corrector has a built-in brightener that evens out the natural nail color and enhances it. Or you can opt-in for sheer pinks like Rosy Quartz from the Sally Hansen x Love Shack Fancy collection for a light wash of color.”

Nostalgic Jellies
“Reminiscent of the glossy, translucent, jelly finishes of ‘80s and ‘90s beauty trends, jelly nail polishes are so back,” says Nuñez. “They give a retro vibe and are super playful, buildable, and leave nails with a see-through and vibrant finish. One of my personal favorite jelly colors right now is Sally Hansen Insta-Dri x Ring Pop in Bling Pop. It’s a pink shimmer and jelly color that can be worn with one layer for a glowy and glittery finish or you can add more coats for an opaque and shimmery effect.”

“Sunny orange tones are a great option for June nails because they will really brighten up any outfit that you pair them with,” says Hanna. “It’s a fun pop of color that looks amazing on sunkissed skin.”

Saturated Blues
“Blue gives off relaxing, refreshing vibes that are perfect for the hot weather in June,” says Hanna. “As we step into summer, we tend to step away from pastel blues and step more into saturated blues.”

Floral Pinks
“Since June is the month where summer begins, I will say that I will be leaning towards bright colors and colors that remind me of flowers, like bright pinks,” says Ladokun.
